Hi,
My name is Jestin George, 38 years old, and a salaried person working in Mumbai. I am a permanent resident of Mumbai.
I want to buy 1 or 2 acres agricultural land in Maharashtra "LEGALLY" for setting up a second home and growing trees, fruits and vegetables PURELY as hobby farming and not for sale.

No one from my father or mother's side are farmers. I might have relatives who are farmers but i cannot expect them to help me.

My question is: What is the procedure to get farmer status LEGALLY?

i dont mind if the procedure is lengthy. i only want to ensure that it is PERFECTLY LEGAL IN ALL RESPECTS.

Please contact...

Farmer status

you can purchase agriculture land directly. If you are not getting the land in your state then you can purchase the agriculture land in Rajasthan. Then you will be called as a farmer . later on you can get the agriculture land in your state.

Anyone can seek permission from the concerned Asst commissioner in the taluk where a land is meant for sale.
The permission is given based on merit with some firm conditions and there is always a source in Indian law to be a RTC holder (PAHNI) which defines who is a farmer.
Goodluck.

Bhadrinath.

seek permission from the asst commissioner. thats the best way. second best way is to buy a small piece of land in any other state and then become a farmer by showing that patta .you can later sell it of.
