Mr. R.R.Baskaran is the Managing Director of Nerkkalanjiam Collective Farming Farmer Producer’s Company Limited in Kumbakonam, Tamilnadu. His interest is making agriculture ecological and poison free in a sustainable way. Mr.Baskaran says now farming is facing the changes in climatic conditions. Monsoon has become rainstorm throwing agriculture out of gear. Sunshine and rain which are basis of agriculture have been changed to drought and flooding thereby challenging it. In the last two decades farmers were forced to identify a viable alternative method of agriculture to overcome the crisis. A few have made some inroads while others keep searching, because even a small change in above mentioned factors play a significant role for success of farmers. Selecting a cropping pattern and suitable time of agricultural operations are important factors.
