The food bill should be looked at from every state government’s perspective. While it is depriving states like Tamil Nadu from its existing allotment, it favors a few. Our crops like ragi, jowar & bajra are the costliest food – in the developed countries like USA & UK but still it is the cheapest in India.

Government can offer free food to the poor but also ensure that the farmer gets his minimum assured price for his crop.

I am not in favor of this bill.

No. I am totally against it. Do you think free food will be hygienic or a quality one? Never. Because it is a waste of our money, Government should help the poor by providing jobs and train them to use our natural resources. It is no longer help to the farmers. Last week I went to Interior Maharashtra for our project and I saw the farmers suffering with more than 12 hours power cut. I spoke to somebody who told me that if the same problems continue they have to sell their agri lands to builders and settle down in any city. I really felt very bad and angry with our non-working politicians. I am not against any politician but really feel they have done nothing for common people. These bill dramas are all for the forthcoming elections.

So if it is to be used for purpose like this, it is good. But the other side of coin is that in many cases we see that the reach is very limited and execution is not as required. Also, time when country is in economic crisis this bill may seem not be such a great move.
