However, be sure regarding proper protection. You will have to protect the plants for almost 30 years. Rcently Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Ltd. had orgnised a meeting regarding promotion of Sandalwood Cultivation in our city - Sirsi. Many experts felt that the claim of KSADL seem to be unrealsitic. Though they say that now Sandalwood could be harvested with in 20 years, the experts expressed doubt whether the required fragrance would develop with in that time.
Second point is that in our region where you will find thousands of sandawood plants every where, you will not be able to see even a single plant reaching its maturity. In our own backyard, about 20 years aged plant was smuggled during night even though we had two dogs. In many cities, even the plants in the compound of police stations were smuggled. So all your efforts may be wasted at the time of harvest.
