Hi friends,
greetings to all !
My name is ravi and i live in chandigarh, punjab. i am going to start dairy farming with 20 cows with one partner. we also want to do something else also with dairy farming, can somebody guide me for the same. wat about bio gas plant or cow urine distillation plant. request you to please give me solution for the same.

Think of vermicompost. Biogas should be there, it will suffice for home needs, you can install plant of 6 m3 which will support 10-12 families food and hot water requirements.

What is this urine distillation and what is the product?

cow Urine

This is good pesticide and contains all organisms for growth. It is has to be sprayed before and after flowering the response will be unthinkable. This is also used to make PANCHAGAVYA AND DASGAVYA.

What to do with bulls?

Hi,
We are planning to establish a HF Cows dairy farm, one of the issues here is we do not know what to do with the non productive cows and male calves. We are not willing to cull them or to sell them to butcher due to religious sentiments. Could anybody please guide me in this regard?

Even we had to figure out what to do with male calves. Solution came from our breeding program which was in miserable condition. We purchased bull and things are better now.

Male calves can be bred to make excellent bulls. Natural insemination has a higher success rate than AI. Also, there is a demand for good breed bulls from other bigger farms.
Non-productive animals can be given to local NGOs who look after them, but I have seen the condition of cows in those places, you feel it is better if animal is butchered.

Why dont you keep the animal in your farm in some small open area? You need not feed it high quality stuff and dont worry about costs and profits, God will look after everything :). I feel it wont cost much to maintain animals when they are not going to be used for milking.
Other cows which are yielding less can be sold in local fairs for reasonable price.

Nikhil ji, i also wish to start a small dairy farm at Nagpur....with about 4-5 cows...
can you pls guide me about how many female and male cows should be bought? I wish to buy original breed of Gir cows and wish to maintain same breed in future. Can you pls also suggest in what stage should a cow be bought.. How much is the pregnancy, dry period and gap in case of cows...
What is their life span? Do they give birth to one calf at a time?
