Hi,

I am from Karnataka. My aim is to become a farmer (full time or part time). Currently i am working for private firm.

My question is:

1. Can i become a farmer. My grandfather had 2acre land and he sold in 1985.
2. Is there difference between Farmland and Agriculture land.
3. Is it true that people bribe and take fake papers saying they are farmers and buy farmland.

Farmer

Hi,
Everybody can become a farmer. Remeber, Farming was are basic profession right before the industrial revolution took place in India. So we Indians definitely have in us to become farmers. And to be a farmer is always good as you are producing some type of food. Food is a basic requirement.

To do farming the primary requirent is land. It may not be in acres, but you need to have some land and depending on the magnitude of the land you have, you can chosse your farming options.

Farmland can be different from agricultural land. On an agricultural land, you cultivate a crop it needs to be fertile, well irrigated. Farmland can be also used for cultivation but a land wherein you are rearing animals can be also considered as farmland. In the later case it need not be fertile or properly irrigated.

Definitely people cheat when it comes to land. And with lot of construction activities around, we often find people grabbing farmland for construction activities. So we always have to be alert when it comes to land issues.
