Tell me the details about Hydroponics (Soil Less farming)

Hi,
i am computer engineer doing lecturer ship in polytechnic college. I have 4 acre of land, and want to do some technical farming i.e., want to do farming with new technologies. Four month ago, i heard about Hydroponics Technology. and willing to do it. so i searched the website of Department of Agriculture, Govt. of India. But i didnt find any topic regarding hydroponics.
If you have any information regarding this technology, please tell me. Tell the information from root of this technology.
