by profession I am a mechanical Engineer, but by born I am a farmer.
Now i am planning for teak wood Plantation at my farm at Nagpur, maharashtra., which a hilly area & not so fertile.
Pls. suggest me the best teak wood variety & all related detail.

Tissue culture Teak plantations

Hi sir,

The teak is a nice plantations and wise investment now a adays.Normally the most of the timber plants were grown in the forest earlier days.There was no care and proper irrigation on those days.But the forestry plants were grown and matured in the forest.So its called wild cultivation now that has been switched over to field cultivation.The vidharba area is familer for teak.The timber of the vidharba area teak is very hard and strong .This has been identified by the Forest Department ,Govt of India.So minimum water in summer and rainfails time i.e 5 litres per day ,little care and proper security arrangements i.e any kind of fencing system as per your financial viablity.The major roll of teak plantations is seletion seedlings/saplings.Now a days its not possble by a ordinary farmer.then what can do for selection best saplings? .Now tissue culture teak saplings are availiable with salient features like fast growth rate i.e minimum 12-15 feet per year ,90 % uniform growth ,early maturity i.e minimum 12 years onwards,the setting of heart wood (i.e inner portion of the timber ) and assured income in stipulated time.Plz Note vidharba teak breed called as NC21.
