Hello Sir
At maturity (15-25 years) each hectare will give approximately 350 mature trees.
These trees will yield approximately 200-300 cubic meters of marketable hardwood per hectare.
The cost of cultivation will depend upon the extent of the area to be planted. The cost of cultivation for a unit area of one ha. at an espacement of 2m x 2m . i.e. 2500 plants/ ha. has been worked out at Rs. 67476/- for 7 years which is shown in theAnnexure - I.

Eucalyptus
Eucalyptus grows to a height of about 12 mts and 40-45 cms girth at the age of 3 years.
An average yield of 63.5, 25.0 and 11.9 tonnes per hectare respectively for E. globulus, E. grahdis and E. tereticornis has been reported.
For estimating the returns from a commercial operation of Eucalyptus plantations a farm of about 25 acres is an ideal one. About 2000 trees per acre in the configuration of 2 x 1 mt is expected to be quite productive.
In a cycle of 6 years each tree should grow to weigh about 100-150 kgs which should fetch about Rs. 55/- cut and delivered at buyer's place. After providing for cutting and transportation changes, it should have a net realisation of Rs. 40 per tree.
A. Fixed costs
Fixed expenses in taking up eucalyptus plantations are given here. Costs of various operations may be variable depending on the prevailing conditions.
a. 25 acres of land @ 5,000/acre including conveyance charges 1,25,000/-
b. Cost of preparing land for plantation @ Rs. 1000/acre 25,000/-
c. Planting, fencing, hedges, gate and a room 75,000/-
d. Tubewell, power connection, agricultural
implements and irrigation channels 1,00,000/-
e. Construction of labour huts 25,000/-
f. Cost of plants @ Rs. 0.5/in plant 25,000/-
g. Pit digging, manure, insecticide and
planting @ Rs. 1.25/plant 62,500/-
h. Consulting charges @ Re l/plant 50,000/-
i. Other miscellaneous fixed expenses 20,000/-
Total 5,07,500/-
On an average, it calculates 1.61akhs per year for 18 years which is quite attractive. In case intercropping is resorted in the initial years, the profitability would be even better.
