Need to know the Tamarind production centers, whole sale markets in South India. Is there a demand for Tamarind concentrate or powder. Considering that Tamarind is a food item, I feel most of the house holds will not prefer a processed product as the freshness will be a preference .

Experts, what you think? Is there any market research report on tamaraind available to buy?

hello sir
Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bangalore, India, under the aegis of International Centre for Underutilized Crops (ICUC), trained the officials of Bharathiya Agro-Industries Foundation (BAIF), a nongovernmental organization (NGO), on small scale processing and marketing of underutilized fruits.
As a result, small scale processing units were established at the community village level in the state of Karnataka, Maharashtra and Gujarat in India for processing of underutilized fruits like tamarind.

The market survey in the Hassan district of Karanataka indicated the presence of underutilized fruit products like tamarind paste sold by the retailers in small quantities.

It can be processed in the form of paste, sauce, and candy.

Starch made from tamarind seeds is considered to be the cheapest non-edible starch with many industrial applications. Tamarind fruits are used for edible purposes and seeds are wasted. Processing of these seeds results in substantial value-addition. This starch is used by
textile units and industries manufacturing starch based adhesives. Plywood industry is yet another bulk consumer. Thus, this product has growing market and with the anticipated growth in textile and plywood industry in coming years, demand is bound to go up.
