I have 9 acres of land beside national highway in tumkur district karnataka.iam inetrested in starting a hi-tech dairy farm.can any one suggest me how much water requirement is needed,project cost for 100 buffalos,institutions which finance for the project and availability of labour.

Dear Niranjan,

Water requirements will vary based on the age, stage of animals, housing pattern, etc etc . Wat ever is the case you can take approximately 120 liters per animal per day for various activities
For an adult animal weighing 300kg, for ex drinking 60 liters, washing 30 liters, Milking and related 30 liters - Approx 120 literes multiplied by 100 animals 12,000 liters per day, On any given day you need to have a stock lasting for 3 or more days

Project cost will be approximately 75 - 80 lacs on a semi intensive rearing
