Silk exraction business from Cocoon in Vellore District

Hello,

I am very much interested in doing 'Silk extraaction from Cocoon' business in my native palce (in Vellore district in Tamilnadu). I got few basic information about Silk extraction process from Internet.

I would be thankful if i get :
A] Do Vellore district in Tamilnadu is a suitable place to do this farming.
B] Place of training, related to this farming provided in and around vellore district.
B] Address of Grainages in and around vellore district.
C] Place where i can get
1] Mulberry saplings / leaves.
2] Silk worms.

Dear Thalaaiva,

It is not easy to do reeling of silk yarn from cocoons. You must have very skilled labour to get uniform yarn. I do not think labour is available in Vellore. Why donot you make some time and visit Ramanagaram and Channapattana in Bangalore Rural Dist. Both the cities are on the way to Mysore from Bangalore. Just by internet knowledge it is highly impossible to set up reeling factory. You need cocoon supply continuously means you should have many cocoon farmers or you should have a cocoon market, I do not think you have one in Vellore. Please Contact Silk Board of India where you will get more idea.

There are two type of reeling happens one is raw silk which is fine and used for sarees and the other one dupion which is thicker and rough and used for furnishings.

Maintaining quality in this industry is very very difficult as indian silk cocoon is not good as china silk cocoon.
