Hi folks,

I have some 2 acres of land with splendid water availability. Planning to start cultivation of flowers. Seeking for expert's advice on which flower to go for? and what are the favourable weather conditions and what is the best time of the year for cultivation of flowers etc.

Thanks in advance!

Hi

Where is your land located sir?? there are different weather conditions suitable for different crops and some crops can be cultivated throughout the year. Some need controlled conditions for their growth. What is the type of soil in your field and do you want open cultivation or protection cultivation. If you could be more specific, we can guide you with the crops.

Hi Ashwini,

I have a land in Kolhapur (Maharashtra). Soil is black. Currently we are cultivating sugarcane.

Temperature conditions:
Kolhapur daily average temperature ranges between 14°C to 35°C. During summers maximum temperature never seen to exceed 38°C and generally maximum lies in the band 33°C to 35°C. Minimum during this season are around 24°C to 26°C. Monsoons offer medium rainfall with an atmospheric temperature of 23°C to 30°C. Kolhapur winters are during the months November to February and has a very pleasant climate during winters. The temperature lies around 14°C to 30°C during this period.

Field has river flowing near by. And because of that in monson it gets flooded in there. I would like to go for open field cultivation. But if the weather is not favourable then would think of green house. Hope this helps :)

Thanks!

Amruta

Hi

Black soil combined with water logging it would be difficult to cultivate flower crops. It would be ideal if you can take a horticulture specialist to your farm and he would be able to suggest a suitable crop based on the conditions prevailing.
