In this emerging world of ORGANIC AGRICULTURE in India usage of less chemical inputs and
environment friendly bio inputs play a major role in improving the soil fertility and root growth
of the crops. Pesticide residues in the final product are major bottle neck for exports to other
countries. Reducing / controlling the pest population through Light trap and Lures is an age old
practice in India and other part of the world which is totally non chemical and environment
friendly.
Solar Insects Light trap is a device developed for Integrated Pest Management in organic
Agriculture and Horticulture farms. This device uses latest LED Technology for lighting with low
Ultra Violet – A range of frequency of wavelength to attract flying adult and nymph’s of
economics important in agriculture. The device reduces the usage of poisonous chemical
pesticide in the agriculture field.
This is a device operates with fully automatic solar charging, turning ON light during dusk time
(6:00 – 7:00 PM) and turns OFF after continuous operation of 5 hours (Stops prior to Midnight)
using micro controller. This feature enables to capture pests and Insects that damages the
crop majorly. It avoids capturing beneficial insects of the farm. The complete system is
operated by a software based microcontroller.
