Hi
Melia dubia is also called as a Maha neem or Forest(Royal) neem. Which is fastest growing tree species, with in 6-7 years the plantation is ready to harvest.
It can be raised either by direct sowing or planting in nursery for raising seedlings or stumps.
The best seed treatment is treating the seeds with cowdung solution for one day.
Melia dubia has the unique feature of growing to 40 feet within two years from planting and can be mechanically pruned and harvested.
The malabar neem will attain the girth 0f 150 centimetre on completion of minimum 7 to 8 years not in 4 to 5 years. We can get yield of minimum 750 kilos and maximum one ton per tree.So the total yield pattern will be minimum 400 tons per acre.We can accomadate nearly minimum 500 and maximum 620 plants in one acre in the spacing dimension of 10' x 10',9' x 9' & 9' x 8'.
