My name is Durga Prasad finished MBA from Australia. Recently I step back to india and planning to start a goat farm near guntur or krishna district. Could you plz guide me with your valuable real experiences.

1.With how many goats can i start in 5 acres of land ?
2.Total project cost / Marketing strategy and all hurdles involved in the total processing and how to overcome from it?
3. Do you know any farms near to my place?
4. Which bread is suitable for Guntur /Krishna districts weather conditions?
5. How much should I invest on each baby? What type of vaccinations should we give them?
6. How long does it takes to grow into final stage?
6. When it will produce babies?
7. What type of feed should we give them?
8.What type of crop should I cultivate in my land ? Where can I get the seeds?
9. Which type of sheds should we construct and what is the cheapest procedure to built it in an effective way?
Kindly clarify my doubts as early as possible

150 goats is ideal to start.
2.Total project cost / Marketing strategy and all hurdles involved in the total processing and how to overcome from it?
Approx project cost depends pure on the breed, however it can vary from 6-9 lacs. marketing should be based on the breeding, whether it will be for meat purpose for breeding purpose for other farms. labor would be a big hurdle.
3. Do you know any farms near to my place?
There are numerous farms in maharastra and tamilnadu.
4. Which bread is suitable for Guntur /Krishna districts weather conditions?
Osmanabadi would be suitable, aslo can try cross bred goats of sirohi.
5. How much should I invest on each baby? What type of vaccinations should we give them?
Take a average of rs.5 per day.
6. How long does it takes to grow into final stage?
It depends when you want to sell, ideally they can sold at age of 9 months or male at 1 1/2 yr for eid goats.
6. When it will produce babies?
after 8 months for healthy kids, average of 3 kidding for 2 yrs.
7. What type of feed should we give them?
Dry, green, concentrate, silage for balanced nutrition
8.What type of crop should I cultivate in my land ? Where can I get the seeds?
Meet your local agriculture dept, and take advice, there are many co4, subabul, maize, and many
9. Which type of sheds should we construct and what is the cheapest procedure to built it in an effective way?
Tile is the best both sturdy and long run

Dear friend, good idea. if you have no issue with infrastructure..etc, you can go-ahead initially with 100 goat (Sirohi) and 100 sheep (Rambouillet), and 50 with other breeds (sheep/goat). Totally 250. Then slowly can increase the head count.
