Hi all,

I was wondering if there are any organic alternatives to doing fumigation. We do not want to use phosphine, 1,3-dichloropropene, chloropicrin, methyl isocyanate,hydrogen cyanide,sulfuryl fluoride,formaldehyde,Iodoform etc. as i have heard they destroy the friendly fungi and bacteria in the soil which assist the plant growth besides being expensive and hazardous.

A relatively new strategy for organic disease management involves the use of fall-sown mustard mixes or broccoli as natural soil treatments. It is also known as biofumigation.

Dear Ashwani,

Thanks for your reply. I have heard people using hydro peroxide and silver hydrogen peroxide for the same in polyhouse. Do let me know if you have heard of the same. I am not quite sure i understand how to use the fall-sown mustard mixes or broccoli as natural soil treatments. Kindly elaborate.
