Dear all,

Myself SATHISH B M, Im very much interested in agriculture, but the problem is I have 3 acres of dry land without irrigation facility (Nothing has been cultivated yet), so I want to make rain water storage system. I have some queries regarding this..

1. What are all the steps involved??
2. Dimension of tank or reservoir??
3. Water flow system??

I will be expecting your suggestions..

Thanks and regards,

Rainwater harvesting for agriculture generally involves the creation of structures such as check dams, ponds, and percolation
tanks to slow the fl ow of water, and to collect and hold limited quantities at a planned set of places along the fl ow path. It is estimated that a storage tank of 200 cu. metre capacity (eg. 16m x 5 m x 2.5m lined with Silpauline) can store about two lakh litres of rain water.

NABARD has scheme for Rain water harvesting. Contact your nearest NABARD office for details.
