INTRODUCTION
The farm was started by me, an executive of a Bank recently retired, with an idea to guide enthusiastic entrepreneur who want to engage in GOAT REARING. and to supply PURE BREEDING STOCK of male and female goats. At present,VGF is breeding pure THALASSERY, KANNI, AND JAMNAPARI breeds. Also, trial is going on in cross breeding JAMNAPARI, with Kanni and Thalassery breeds.
SERVICES
In addition to supply of pure breeding stock, We could guide the new entrepreneurs right from raising fodder, selection of site for shed, type of shed, selection of breeds suitable to the area of operation, day to day activities, schedule of deworming and vaccination . WE WILL NOT CHARGE FOR SUCH SERVICES, AND OUR FARM CAN BE VISITED ON ALL SATURDAYS.
ABOUT OUR FARM
The farm was established during FEB 2013, with a capacity of 50 animals. This is the minimum VIABLE size, if we engage a laborer to look after the farm. Below this size i.e., 20 animals etc is suitable only if the farmer himself looks after the animal without engaging laborer. The shed was finalised after visiting many farms and now we have a shed with completely secured and theft proof. Likewise the feeding trays and water feeding trays have made after facing many problems. Hence, people who is visiting our farm will get the basic idea of fodder growing, size and design of shed etc.,
After infrastructure, selection of animals plays an important roll in success of the project. We faced many difficulties in getting pure breed animals either from private farms or from Government farms. This was the reason, VANAVIL GOAT FARM is giving priority in selling pure breeding stock, instead of selling animals for meat purpose.
