Poultry Layer(Egg) farming

I am planning to start poultry layer(Egg) farming in southern Tamilnadu.

The weather condition as follows.

April and May are the hottest months with average maximum temperature hovering around 42 degree Celsius.

Winter sets in the month of November and persists till the end of January. The average maximum temperature hovers around 30 degree Celsius. The minimum temperature in these months sometimes goes down to 17-18 degree Celsius. The relative humidity in general remains between 55 and 65 percent except during monsoons where as the average rainfall is around 800 millimeters per annum.

My Question is

1. Can I start a Layer(Egg) forming at this climate conditions.
2. Do I need an Aicon or heater
3. What will be the typical investment for 2000 eggs per day capacity?
4. I am new to Layer Farming. Any course/education available?

Thank you

Hi

The term layer is the shortened form for laying hens or for female chickens that are raised and housed specifically for their egg laying abilities. Although most farm fresh eggs come from large-scale poultry farms, a niche is opening now to those who are setting up small-scale organic chicken farms. If you are thinking of setting up your own business in egg production, there are a few things you have to know.in order to start your own egg farm, you need to have substantial background in production farming. Production farming, by the way, is a costly venture, entailing machineries, equipments, housing, medications, licenses and permits, not to mention buying the necessary layers (laying hens) in order to have a successful start.

The duration of light should be 16 hours per day, but not beyond 17 hours. No advantage is obtained by exceeding this limit. The amount of light given to the flock in one day should never be less than that given the day before. A decreasing day length can prematurely cause hens to go out to production. One 40 watt electric bulb is sufficient for 200 sq.ft. area.

You can contact some experts at the poultry department or even the experts at suguna poultry. They will guide you practically.
