Pomegranate cultivation prospects:
Pomegranate cultivation is one of the most attractive propositions in Horticulture crops. The main reason being, growing awareness amongst people of its health benefits. Many medical practitioners are now recommending Pomegranate fruit juice to patients especially to heart Patients.
The produce is always in demand but the prices are subject to seasonal variations, sudden increase in harvesting in peak periods. There is good export market for this produce. In future, organically grown produce will fetch higher prices.
Yield per acre of land: Safer side the expected is yield of 7500 Kg per acre per year.
Market value: The market value will range from Rs.60/- per kg to Rs.100/- per kg depending on factors such as festival seasons. Overall crop produce that comes in the market, quality in terms of size, color, disease free appearance of the fruits, etc. Hence, the per acre market realization will range between Rs.4.5 lacs to Rs. 7.5 lacs.
