Climatic Condition

The pomegranate primarily mild-temperate to subtropical and naturally adapted to regions with cool winters and hot summers. The plant favors a semi-arid climate and is extremely drought -tolerant. It is fairly tolerant to low temperature, of course with differences among varieties. For proper fruit development and maturity and sweetness, a temperature of 35 – 38 0 C is needed.

This hardy shrub does best when planted in well-drained soil, although it can also grow in many difference types of soils, from acid loam to alkaline soil.

Plant Life

The pomegranate orchard average yield of 05-25 t/ha/year. The orchard can give economic yield up to 30 years.


Crop regulation:

The pomegranate starts fruiting about 4 years after planting and continues for about 25 to 30 years. Economic yield is generally obtained after 10 years of planting. To regulate flowering, water is withheld for about two months in advance of the normal flowering season. After two months, manures and fertilizers are applied and light irrigation is given. Three to four days later, heavier irrigation at normal interval are followed.

Area Required - Minimum 1 acre (40,000 Sq. ft.)

This is Mohd Wajeed from hyderabad, you have mentioned like economic yield will be after 10 years. Till 10 years we dont get any returns from this.

Will the hyderabad climate suitable for this crop?
