Plantation suggestions

Dear All,

I have 7acres land situated in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh. The soil is mix of both sand and black mud and it is 2kms away fom the Bay of Bengal. We have plenty ground water available with little iron mixed, so no possibility for drip. The best suitable crops are Banana and Groundnut.

However, i want to go for less maintenance plantations like Eucalyptus. I also heard about Melia Dubia, thornless Bamboo etc.

What would be your recommendations?

Many thanks,
Satish

Hi satish,

You can grow melia dubia in the border and cultivate banana in the centre.

Hi Satish

You should go for Eucalyptus plantation as it requires more water and less maintenance.

@Ashwini.

Banana needs more attention and requires more money. I need little or no maintenance plantation. I thought of Melia Dubia 2yrs ago, however, i am worried about market in my area for Melia Dubia.

Thanks,
Satish

@landed

When i planned 3yrs ago, Oilpalm saplings were not available at Nellore factory. I am not too optimistic about this crop any more as we will have only single buyer.
