Dear friends, i am a student of IIT Delhi and own about 20 acres of land back in my ancestral village(Darbhanga, Bihar) and i want to invest about 6-7 lac rupees to establish a dairy farm, kindly give me a rough idea that what'll be my monthly income if i leave it completely on a caretaker and occasional (tri weekly) dedicated visit by any family member, the village is adjacent to the town(8 km) with excellent road connectivity, i could arrange the fodder at a subsidized price there!!
Milk price in Darbhanga 23-25 rupees/litre

kindly help me, i want to pursue higher education abroad and want this venture for helping me financially for it.

Dear Shubham,

dairy business is a capital intensive business. You can plan for maximum 10 buffaloes in the given budget.

400 square feet of covered area = Rs. 1,00,000.00
cost of 10 high yielding murrah buffaloes = 5,50,000.00
Insurance premium = 20,000.00
Working capital = 35000.00
Milking buckets, chains and ropes, emergency medicines = 5,000

Total investment = 7,10,000.00

Total Revenue in a year = (2500*10*25) Rs. 6,25,000.00
Total Expense in a year (feeding +labour+ Insurance+Animal health)= 4,25,000.00.

Annual Income from mini dairy = Rs. 2,00,000.

Hi,
I would recommend you thet you should keep about 20 female heifers of over two years of age and sell these when these are just about to calf or after calving. You can that time make a call about your further step.

Hello Khurana ji

I am looking for some basic education in Buffalo farming and pricing.

I have been trying to gather information on costing. How much milk does a good breed Murra give (average) under general weather conditions in and around Hyderabad.

How much does the above buffalo cost. I do understand that the cost is dependant on the amoung of milk produced. Is it approximately rs. 1000 to 1200 per ltr of milk produced per day. I personally would prefer a buffalo in her first or second lactation.

Typically how are these buffaloes milked; is it by hand or is it mechanised. If I buy a buffalo that is used to being milked manually, how long deos it take to ween her out of hand milking and get her used to milking mechanically. In the process, is there any loss or reduction of milk production. Is there any stress on the buffalo.

How much does a 1 1/2 to 2 year heffer cost. That is, i am asking for cost of both males and females. Can we raise these heffers to product milk once they are taken care of for another 2 years.

Please help. I thank you for your help in advance.
