Dear all,

I am based out of hyderabad, but would like to start a medium dairy farm near my home town Chincholi,Gulbarga dist.Karnataka. i have few queries in my mind before starting the project and need help from the senior members of the community.I have 8 acres of agriculture land and would like to start initially with 30 - 40 crossbreed cows...

1.Is the place viable to start a new venture

2.How should i market my milk in the area or where i can sell it.

3. Plz suggest which breed of cows will be suitable according to the environment.

Thanks and Regards,

HI

You can start a dairy, but look for marketing before you set up a dairy. YOu can use high yielding cows like jersey, HF.

for the location you need to select jersey or crossbreed HF cows which can withstand the hot climate, do not go for high yielding cows they cannot withstand the heat, ideal production will be 15 liters per day per cow

water is most essential every crossbred cow will require around 60liters to drink and more water to clean the cows and shed

you can sell the milk to KMF thru a local co-operative this will give you higher price as you get govt. subsidy as well
