there are 3 types of mushroom which can be cultivated for home scale and large scale.
1.Oyster mushroom: which requires 25oC for cultivation yields around 700 gm to 1.25 kg per bag of size 20 X6 inch, fastest mushroom which completes life cycle in 35 days, easy to cultivate and costs around Rs.35-45 you can sell around Rs.80-120/kg, only drawback of this mushroom is that it has to be consumed with in 4-6 hrs after harvest but lot of demand for soup preparation in star hotels.
2.Milky mushroom: this requires 36-38oC for cultivtion complete life cycle in 75 days yields up 1.5 kg and costs around Rs.35-50/bag and sold in market high price up to Rs.150/kg can be stored for 5 days in ambient conditions, if refrigerated can to stored up to 15 days.
3.button mushroom: requires 16-18 oC can be cultivated himachl pradesh under open if you want to cultivate you will have to establish cold storage that cost more. to have profitable button mushroom unit you need to harvest 50 kg every day to establish such unit you will have to incure 50 lakhs.
