Hello,

I am software eng by profession I am from UP near Kanpur. We have ~40 Acre land where we do farming. I am planning to open dairy farm in part of that land . I am in dilemma whether go for Murrah buffalo or for Cross cow or Sahiwal cow.

I am actually thinking for Murrah buffalo will be better as temperature goes to ~46 degree C in summer. Someone told having both will benefit more.

I request senior members please guide me.

Thanks,

Hello sir,
In terms of hardy they are good but they dont yield much but you can think of having combination of both as there is a grate demand for buffalo milk . slight modification of environment like water spray you can manage breeds also.

Thanks Kirti,

As, I am planning for commercial dairy farming. So, profitability is main concern. I can go with cow also, and can put water spray also ( I don't think this will cost more than 1- 2 Lakhs Rupee for the shed of 100 cow). I thought as buffalo milk will be selling at ~32 Rs and cow at ~27 Rs. so, I initially thought Murrah will be more profitable.

My only concern if Exotic breed can be good for area temperature more than ~40 for 2- 3 months.

What you say? I mean what you suggest.. I am looking best quality cattle. I am ready to pay Rs. 1 Lakhs for each cattle? But, want most profitable in my Area that is Up near Kanpur.

Thanks again Kirti, waiting for your feedback. :)

Regards,
Vikas
