Multi-layer farming is mostly cash crop based and it uses of vegetables and fruits that can be grown together. In Multi-layer farming, the crops are grown at different heights on the same land. This farming cannot be done in open fields as shade is required.

Some of these are not proper companion crops though there is no problem in planting all these and many others as multi crops in any farm as done traditionally in Kerala, but if the crops are not proper companions, growth and yield of both will be affected negatively. Double check about companion crops and why they are not regarded as companion crops. Citrus fruits near non-citrus fruits is a negative pairing. So, traditionally lemon is planted away from other fruits. Reason: spread of pollen of citrus flowers by bees into the flowers of other fruits can lead to change in taste of other fruits and vice versa.

Multi-layer cultivating is for the most part cash crop-based and it incorporates a combination of vegetables and natural products that can be developed together. In Multi-layer cultivating, the crops are developed at diverse statures on the same arrival. This cultivation cannot be tired of open areas as shade is required.
