Miserable situation of male calves in India

Hello All!

I am really annoyed by the hypocrisy of our religion (Hinduism) which forbids killing of cows for meat but doesn't say anything when the farmers' let the male calves loose to die of hunger and thirst loitering about. Not only is it bad for the calves, it's devastating for the ecological balance, inhumane and a wastage of resources. Could we possibly discuss possible solutions to this problem of unwanted male cow calves? What uses they can probably be put to so that a demand for them is created and they won't be condemned to live a miserable life as they do now.
PS: I am from Haryana but as far as I know the situation is just the same all over India except maybe the three states where killing them for beef is not illegal.

Regards

Would it not be better to raise these calves and then send them to the states where they can be used in Beef. At least, this would be a better option then the present one of letting them die young without food and water.

While what you are suggesting is certainly better than the status quo, it's not happening as of now. The reason, I think is related to logistics. Slaughtering cows for beef is legal in West Bengal, Kerala and one or two north-eastern states but it is illegal to export cattle across state borders. Even if it weren't so, the problems related to transporting animals over long distances would still have been there. Some smuggling happens but it's not very popular since the fear of backlash from the government and certain orthodox Hindu organisations is paramount.

Yes , We togeather can initiate for betterment of Calves. We can use the Mechanical e

We can use the Mechanical energy of Calf/oxen and produce Electical energy , use their dung for setting Biogas plant as well as production of bio fertiliser

Be in haryana or Punjab or Delhi, these stray animals are cause of accidents and die unusual death. few days back I have seen cow giving birth on road side and that presented a horoable scene. It would be wise if these are sent to states where these can be converted into beef. These hyperactive leaders are responsible for all these miseries
