Mr. Michiel Berende, former underwriter and process manager for Dutch insurer Interpolis, got interested in microinsurance when he visited India in 2004.
He witnessed the after effects of the The Tsunami of 2006 and saw how much insurance can make a difference to vulnerable sections of the population in situations like this. In 2006 Michiel became a member of the Microinsurance Network, formerly called CGAP Working Group on Microinsurance.
