methods of preventing grass growth

We have a 11 acre land at Wada where we grow marigold and other decorative flowers. However due to excessive grass growth, a lot of these plants get spoilt. Can u please suggest methods of preventing grass growth? Also what is the approximate cost for this?

Weed management in marigold

Its one of the most expensive operations in crop production.Controlling grass weeds is still dificult. Methods to arrest weed growth in ur case areeep summer ploughing keeping field dry;use of mulch between crop rose;and use of pendimethaline (stomp) @2.5lit/ha. However the herbicide(weed killer) needs to be applied in small area first to see that it is not ahrmful to marigold.Most probably it should work.Hercide is to be applied one or two days after planting marigold.
