Marigold cultivation

We are undertaking Marigold Cultivation on a trial basis in 2 acres in our farm near Tenkasi, in Southern Tamil Nadu. We receive heavy rains from mid-October to early December in and around Tenkasi. Our plan is to transplant the seedlings before the monsoons and utilise the monsoons to avoid irrigation

I am writing to seek the feedback of experts & practitioners on Marigold if

1. Is it okay to transplant before the monsoons
2. Will the plants withstand the rains during the growing up period during the monsoons?
3. In case of irrigation
a. what is the water requirement per acre if irrigated by flood method
b. water requirement per plant if irrigated through drip

I shall appreciate receiving feedback from the members of the group

regards

Hello Sir
If u have sown at the end of June to 1st week of July transplant at the first fortnight of August.

Marigold takes about 55-60 days to complete vegetative growth and to enter into reproductive phase.
At vegetative and flowering period sufficient amount of moisture in soil is essential.
Tolerate dry weather upto 10 days without irrigation but growth and flower production is affected adversely.
From April to June, frequent irrigation at the interval of 4-5 days is required.

In lighter soil, more frequent irrigation is required than that in heavy soil.

generally ridge and furrow method is followed in marigold
