Dear Mr Ravi
I am from Sri Lanka and involved in cultivation of lemon grass.
Also I am pleased to address a like-minded frind on this subject.
To get optimum oil harvest, the climate has to be dry, too much of
wet days just before harvesting of grass will reduce the citral value of
oil.
Other than this GL is a hardy plant. when division planted after a few showers will take root very fast. Try and keep the unwanted weeds out. as for pest
there are very few thatl will attack the leaves. Harvesting, bundling and Transportation to the industry is somewhat costly, which you will have to plan out and manage. There is a demand for quality oil fetching around Indian Rs. 1000 per kilo.
As for fertilizer, a mild dose of NPK and one or two foliar spray will enhance
the growth.
