Melia Dubia is the fastest growing tree and the wood used in Plywood Industry. 108 trees can be planted in an acre (distance between trees - 20’ x 20’ ) that fetch 6-7 lakhs after 15 years.
Even if planted as a single row along the field bunds, about 60 trees can be planted per acre, which will fetch an income of about Rs.2 lakhs in the sixth year of planting.

Under good maintenance and controlled irrigation from sixth year onwards, depending on the soil depth and quality trees of 80 to 100 cm gbh with a clear bole of 5 metres height can fetch Rs.4, 000 at today's price (7 per cent escalation can be added per year for the sale price).

Hi Kirti,

The melia Dubia will take 15 years for harvest? Then why should the people are interested in cultivate the melia Dubia? The tissue culture teak also 15 years minimum to harvest.The teak will gives more returns than melia Dubia.Mr Kiriti the fifteen years for harvesting the melia Dubia under irrigation or aried cultivation? Kindly through some lights in melia Dubia cultivation and its usage.

Hello Sir
meila dubia gives economical benefits from 6th year itself unlike teak.
We dont have to wait till 15 years.
The figure i mentioned is the benefit from wood ull get after 15 years.
Till then u can get the benefits from its wood used for packing cases, cigar boxes, ceiling planks, building purposes, agricultural implements, pencils, match boxes, splints and Kattamarams.

The tree with the minimum size of 16inches girth is can be sold at a minimum rate of Rs 2000 per tonne for match industry and for
veneer industry, the market rate is little higher.
