Hello,
I want to cultivate kalmegh in 1 hectare land in Mangaldai district of the state Assam, INDIA. Is it suitable the area of land for the cultivation? Can I get detail information about the plantation, harvesting, profit etc. Where can I get the seed for cultivation and which session is preferable for it? How and where I should sale the product?. Kindly provide me the information.

hello sir
It can be cultivated in whole India except the cold region.

For the good production point of view water loging should not be in the farm. The pH of soil must be in the range of 6.5 -8.5.

It is also easy to propagate by seeds. The nursery can be raised for the better result and germination percentage.

Plantation of the Kalmegh is more effective by nursery raising. This is also cost effective.

The nursery is prepares in first week of the month of May. For the plantation in one acre, 100 square feet nursery is sufficient.
Keep in mind that width of the nursery should be less length can be more because at the time of weeding the person can uproot the weed without entering in the bed.

The bed must be at the height of 9-12 inch from the ground level.

At the time of nursery raising the field preparation should also be started.
First of all the weeds must be removed by 2-3 deep ploughing.
After the ploughing mix the 5 Ton Organic Manure/Acre.
The manure should be mixed properly. After the mixing of the manure level the filed with the help of leveller. Before levelling please do a light ploughing by the cultivator.

manual weeding can be done after the interval of the 20-25 days.

In the absence of rain the field can be irrigated at the interval of 20-20 days as per the requirement of the soil

After the 2.5 - 3 months of transplanting the crops start flowering, which are light white in colour.

The pods start to form like the pod of rice plant. Slowly and slowly the pods start to mature.

This is best indication to uproot the plant. The leaves of plant start dropping from top and the biomass remain same at the lower side of the plant. This is indication of harvesting. Generally this situation comes in the month of October and November.
The plant is dried after the uprooting.

When most of pods mature fully in the month of January and Feburuary seeds are collected.

Yield:
10 quintals dry biomass can be obtained from the 1 acre crop.
15 Quintals biomass from one acre.
