jatropa/pros and consequences

Dear sir,

The following are considered by us in Jatropa cultivation

1. The thought of Bio-fuel from Jatropa is very good but think how great it is succeeded in our country.

2. Still research is being carried out for its high yield.

3. For its cultivation "vegetative propagation-making Plant Cuttings" is enough as planting material. But to prepare planting material "Mother Plant Selection" is essential.

4. Next, In our country all most all kinds of soils supporting its growth excellent. This is only Plant growth/Branches growth/Vegetative growth. But there is no enough fruit formation/yield for seed production. So still this crop is not commercially profitable.

5. Already so many farmers lossed with this crop in UP, AP and in Tamilnadu etc.,because the rate fixed by the governament is surely not worked out to the farmer/grower.

Therefore before starting its cultivation you should learn whether it is profitable or not profitable. Then only go for its cultivation.
This is not a misguidance. Only some problems and consequences.

agree, not much info on commercial viability. you might want to try a mix of oil crops like castor, pungam, jatropha, etc to minimize losses. do not go by ready-made project reports, even if they are provided by "scientists" from agricultural universities. Although it may be easier to get loans that way, the best thing is to experiment yourself, but slowly without putting all your investment at risk.
