Mr. Anand Jain,Managing partner, Jeevan Herbs & Agro Farms says-

Good quality and better rates would be the best suggestions. Good quality means the active ingredient should be there and also in appropriate quantity. Then you charge high for your product. For e.g. safedmusli from JeevanHerbs and Agro Farms is having the highest saponin content and is having good demand.

Mr. Sahul Hamid, Managing Partner, The Alsmedherbs Pvt Ltd says-

Quality Product + competitive rate + safe credit extra are the ideal marketing tactics.
Forming Co-operative movements may reduce middleman's role and that profit taken by the middleman can be shared by the farmers of Co-op society

Mr. Sanjeev Latkar, Director, DSK Milkotronics Private Limited says-

We are the manufacturers and suppliers of dairy solution to the farmers till milk plant. Middleman taking away profits, with this concept only one can see our history that we have never set up a dealer or distributor network for any of our products. One thing what we found when we had started this business that the manufacturers standing in front of the customers particularly the farmer in a remote village, for him it will be sure that he has to call only one person to get the product. We are maintaining this for the past many years. Like I said education is the prime concern for the selling technology and we have always made it a point to first educate and then sell our products which has given us good results. We do participating in many exhibitions also, last 5 days there was an exhibition in Pune Agro one there we got tremendous response from individual farmers, it gave a mix and match solution for farmers as well as, the Dairy institutes.

USP for Marketing of Agro. Produce:

Do not depend upon single buyer (opt for multiple buyer options)
Plan for marketing first than go for production accordingly
Diversify your crops, don't depend upon single crop for better returns
Do crop planning exercise before sowing/ plantation
Do not grow if others are growing the crop i.e. don't copy, make your own plan based upon your strength and weaknesses
Marketing Strategy depends upon the type of agro produce i.e. perishable, semi processed, processed etc. based upon that strategy should be devised
Try to get minimum no. of intermediaries during the supply to consumer

Our company specializes in market linkage activities (not as trader but service provider). Feel free to discuss in detail.

Regards

Mr. Raja, Proprietor Kanni farm says-

If you give quality products at very competitive rates you can definitely win the market. Moreover if you are giving some value-added service to the public like sharing your knowledge to the new comers with actual facts then definitely you can win.

Yes, middleman takes way all the profits, this is a common phenomenon now. But lots of educated people are coming into agriculture. I am personally looking on this in a positive manner and already some changes have started coming in to avoid these middlemen through the online marketing.

Mr. Sunil Kumar, Proprietor Sree Guruvayoorappan Dairy Farm and Vaikundam Farm Resorts says,

The end uses to producers with the help of government policies have to be formed by taking into confidence the farmers. The experience from the field is more important than from the book. These book dwellers should free the country to direct users.

Mr. Hanumantha Rao, Ganga Kaveri Seeds Pvt. Ltd says-

The government sets a minimum support price. In case the market price is below this, government compensates. Above this price, the farmer benefits. Government stays out of the buying process completely. Government invests directly or supports investment in rural infrastructure - warehousing, cold chains, farm mechanization, roads, water, and power.

For farmers and entrepreneurs can find good potential buyers for their produce and earn good profits – they should be free to sell their produce to the highest bidder. The recent example of onions is a classic example of the problems the farmers face. In the entire period the highest price farmers obtained was Rs 30 to Rs 35. This was when customers were paying Rs 80 to 100 per kg. And today farmers are getting just Rs 7 per kg and the market prices are still Rs 40.

Mr. Naveen Pratap Singh, Proprietor, Vinodhara Agri Tech says-

Leadership & Ownership of various line department and NGOs who are working in the area of livelihood based on agriculture, Infrastructure Development and creating interest for agriculture among the youth and Correction in APMC act are some of the marketing tactics.

Huge numbers of buyers are available in market (Fresh Consumers, Retail chains, Processing industries, Hotels etc.). If these stack holders comes directly to the farmers or through entrepreneurs, than this will solve. There are producers in area who are directly supplying there produce to such stack holders and earning good profits.

Dr. Manish Patel, Executive Director, Incotec says-

All stake holders of Food and Agricultural chain need to seriously follow ' Think like Farmer and Act like Farmer ' as well try to achieve ' More from less'. Marketing arrangement as well public distribution system in country needs a drastic change so that food can be made available to poor man of country at realistic price and not at political price!

To find potential buyers, farmers need to catch up ' uncommon crop' for which they may fetch direct buyers from organized industry as well farmer may adopt ' quality specific crop' in order to have secured buyers for it with fixed price. A lot new technology is getting introduced in Indian farming and farmer who adopts first will become wealthier first! For entrepreneurs, my message would be to look beyond India for their buyers and target India as production hub mainly to increase their profitability.

Mr. H.K. Prakash, Founder, HK Global Enterprise says-

For this there is only one mantra - UNITY. If the farmers are united and they have their local union for their crops then definitely we can avoid the middle man. There are many middle men who work on small quantity. If the farmers are united and supply bulk quantity to direct factories, they also get good price avoid other commission losses.

In a globalized market there will be right price for every product. By branding and making sure of the quality definitely they will get good returns.

Dr. N. Barathi, Director, Growmore Biotech says-

Direct marketing, proven product and performance in the field, lower cost of production. I also believe that if your product should be unique and should have special character, whereby it creates a special market segment which has elasticity for price, in turn profitability to the producer. For information, it is difficult to work without a middleman, though I am not a middle man - I am a producer by myself. We should try to reduce the number of middleman, may be one or two to reach out to the market. In my opinion, if you don't have a middleman, the business volume does not grow big.

To find good potential buyers for their produce and earn good profits - It depends on the type of product in Agriculture. Certainly, internet is one of the best tools available for all of us and most of my business being marketed because of the net and I am sure others can find it suitable. Agency like yours will be very good linking junctions to the buyer and seller. Internet is cost effective and very quick in transaction. Unfortunately, it takes lot of time in establishing the credibility of the producer and in turn lower speed of market penetration.

Dr. Sandha, CEO says-

To avoid middleman - We have established the complete chain and even reaching the end users. The design is such that the entrepreneur who invests approximately Rs. 10 Lac can set up the manufacturing unit cum kitchen (to feed the WelEx outlets). The smaller 4-5 entrepreneurs, each investing 2-3 lac can set up the outlets. Instead of all working independently and struggling, we can join forces as in our Franchise network and make use of knowhow and market reach of each other. This cuts out the middle man and the chain is handled by only the entrepreneurs themselves

Farmers and entrepreneurs can find good potential buyers for their produce and earn good profits by - Value addition is the key. You sell ginger, you sell at Rs. 20 per Kg. you sell ginger paste, you sell at Rs. 100 and if you sell spray dried ginger extract, you sell at Rs. 2000 per Kg. more the technology, more the recycling, more the money. In our case, we have a 'zero waste' system in soyfit unit. Only water flows into the drain, everything else is used into making another product.
