Hello,
Any suggestions on how to best to germinate Indigo Tinctoria seeds. I have got these seeds that are looking like mustard seeds and are very small (Is that a regular species) and what is the germination time for these seeds as so far we have not been able to germinate even one ? The soil is basically alkaline and we are trying to do this Punjab.

Thanks,
Aswin.

Hi

Germination of Indigofera tinctoria: Sow indoors at alternating temperatures of 68 and 86°F. Seeds can also be sown outdoors in situ after all danger of frost is past in the spring and when the soil is warm. Indoors and out, sow at a depth of 4 times the size of the seeds and expect germination in over 32 days. Soaking the seeds or nicking seed coats may hasten germination.

it is easy to germinate if you casually sow the seed in your field and water it once. i think in your case it is too old seeds or immature seeds. ask the buyer and replace it.
