ENHANCEMENT OF YIELDS BY WATER PURIFICATION AT DAIRY AND POULTRY FARMS

April 1, 2011 – Argonide Corporation, a Sanford, Florida company that manufactures ultra-high efficiency water purification filters, has recently completed a case study with Dong Young Instrument Co. of Korea focusing on the benefits of using NanoCeram® filtration in dairy and poultry farming. NanoCeram is an electropositive non-woven filter that is very effective at filtering cysts, bacteria and virus at high flowrates. It is used extensively in residential, commercial and industrial water purification. It is also used in aquarium’s.
The new filter system, consisting of a multimedia (sand) prefilter, activated carbon bed and NanoCeram was added to already existing anionic and cationic absorber filters at one dairy and two chicken farms.
Prior to installation of the new system in July 2010 at the dairy farm there were 10 deaths over the prior 9 months owing to disease. Since installation there have been no deaths to date (February 2011). Milk output increased 10.7% without affecting the protein or fat content.
In two chicken farms, a 10% mortality that was typical during summer was reduced to 3.8%. The feed conversion increased 14.5% as adult weight was also increased with the cleaner water, resulting in an income increase of 8%.
According to Fred Tepper, who is the filter’s co-inventor and Argonide’s President, “NanoCeram® has the highest efficiency in filtering pathogenic microbes as compared to ultraporous membranes or any other non-woven pleated cartridge, while achieving a high flow rate and high dirt holding capacity” “NanoCeram cleaning of drinking water would also benefit other poultry farms as well as other livestock”
