It is not advisable to start dairy farm with bank loan you must have at least 4 to 5 acres land for sheds and green grass bank loan if you take the interest will eat away as you cannot do everything on yourself and appoint a prson or two for taking care of the cattle. so with all these you may end up with loss if you have land and investment it is a good business as milk is becoming costly

Dear Sir,

Greetings ! Please find answers to all your queries as given below:-

1. For a dairy unit of 15 - 30 dairy cattle (Crossbreed HF or Jersey cows or Pure Murrah Buffaloes) area of 0.5 acre to 1 acre is sufficient. For green fodder in case of a well irrigated fertile land, 1 acre per 8 cattle should be more than sufficient.
2. Minimum infrastructure includes a very well ventilated cattle shed, 24 hours availability of drinking water (ground water/ tube well etc.), storage spaces for feed and straw/hay, basic equipments like milk cans, chains & ropes, buckets, chaff-cutter, cattle crush etc.
optional equipments includes fumigators, spray-gun, milking machine, brush cutter, refrigerator etc. Though too much investment on machinery with smaller number of cattle is not advisable.
3.Total project cost for a 20 HF crossbreed cows/ Murrah buffaloes should be around 30 lakhs (including cost of required construction, machines, equipments, livestock along with 30 days of working capital). Banks will give term loan up to 75% of project cost if they are satisfied with your credit ratings and proposal.
4.Murrah is the best breed of dairy buffaloes. As buffaloes are local animals of Tropics it will perform well in any part of subcontinent.
5.For exact price quotations you may mail to us.
