Dear,
For Layer.
If you decided to do only poultry, then decide that will you be able to maintain good FCR (Food Conversion Ratio). First you need to find a company to have integration/buy back agreement with them to grow layer farm.

Capital for layer farming needs to spend towards construction of shed, electric service, sweet water and other allied instruments.

For Broilers.
If you wants to grow on your own, then go for broilers, but remember that
unless you stepping in to market it, please do not do it. In order to meet production cost and profit, you must do retail marketing of your birds.

General Conditions,
Poultry shed should be away above 2 km from any residential area.
Good ventilation to cope up extreme weather conditions.
Your personal presence is must to get good results.
All the best,
SWAMY

i appreciate ur advice but i was talking about layer farming (egg production)
how i can market/sell eggs what are the marketing methods i can adopt

Dear Eisack,
Layer farming has become a capital intensive business, Unlike Broiler farming. Unless you are thinking of 50,000-1,00,000 capacity farm, it is difficult to think of layer farming as the margins are very low and overheads are quite high. As a thumb rule, you need 450 rs (Miniumum) /bird as a investment cost. so if you are imaging a 1,00,000 farm, you will need 4,50,00,000 as starting capital. Starting a layer farm with very low capital costs not viable and will only lead to losses.
