Hello All,

I am seeing in some sites that many young Software Professionals in India have become farmers. But I have a basic question in my mind for those IT guys who have turned farmers. The income one earn in these two profession is totally incomparable. I hope, the average annual income one gets in agriculture will be equal to the average monthly income one gets in IT industry. And also, the income from agriculture will not be regular as it is monthly in IT. How are you guys managing? Please give your tips and techniques on this.

Hello Sir

Yes its true that IT people earn double, triple than farmers.
But in agriculture its the interest and lure which makes one to opt for this field.
Agriculture deals not only with one field but has several streams in it where we can invest and get returns.

People in IT field also have interest in using their lands in some form or the other so they finally think to go for agriculture or horticulture where some of them do it as part time or full time. They use all their IT knowledge in farming systems like precision farming, Hi-tech horticulture and other engineering systems that can be useful in crop production.

Please be careful about such news. many of them are doing it for the fancy especially as they can afford to invest their considerable earnings into it. Many times their returns are negative. I am a Pharmacy post-graduate who took this route almost 13 years back and after a lot of heartburn and investment of my savings are just now turning my mango venture into a profitable one. The pitfalls are too many and one learns as you go along. I had to invest a really huge sum of money to sustain the farm initially without getting positive returns. So I would advise anyone wanting to venture into agriculture to deeply think it out before taking the plunge. After a lot of doubt on whether I was indeed doing the right/sensible thing I finally struck on a direct marketing idea using the now available internet route to launch the mangoes grown by me under my own brand name. You can get full information about my now successful venture by visiting Malnad Mangoes
