I am Mr.S.Naguleswaran of Northern Sri Lanka (Yarlpanam) with the lands of tropical climate engaged in organic cultivation of moringa olefera plants for the export of leaves in the dried form. I am looking for advise to control the weeds and pest attack in organic way.

Weed control measures: Regular intercultivation should be done to remove weeds in the field. As some weeds are also alternate host and serve as refuges for the pests to lay eggs, remove of weeds at regular intervals is very essential practise that each farmer should follow without compromise. Weeds also compete with the crop plant and reduce the soil nutrients which otherwise would have been available to the crop, affecting the yield.

Pest control measures: Pest attack can be controlled in moringa by foliar application of any of these inputs;

1) Application of neem oil (1%) and cow urine (2%) – fortnightly intervals.

2) Application of Panchagavya – fortnightly intervals

3) Application of Dashaparni extract controls defoliators

Thanks for the valuable advise.

I have read in the websites about an Agriculture and Horticulture spray for plant pest control ‘’SPARROW 888 plus manufactured by SPARROW OILZ PRIVATE Ltd, Borivali West, Mumbai. . Anybody having any experience on the usage of this pest control spray. About its effectiveness in pest control. Is it a non chemical pesticide?
