How to find ground water

Dear Sir / Madam,

We are at melur(30 kms from madurai-Tamilnadu).My father do agriculture.yesterday(10sep2012) put 350 feet pour from land,but he did't get single drop of water.Eventhough we confirm with two experienced persons ,they use coconut technique / iron rad technique.But result in zero.


we have the well .we put 4 poars past years ,we did't get water.Then only we try to find water near to the well.we get the same result zero.

Please help us to find water use scientific technic .

because in my case also happened same thing . In last past few years we had dig nearly 7 bores in my fields , 5 are failed we got some water in 2 bores. now we have combined both. I am from AP near HYDERABAD( medak, NARAYANKHED),

Hi,

Till now there is no 100% assured apperetus to find out the under ground water.
In India,the Geologists use resistivity meter, which indicates the performance of the underground soil.With the available calculations, they ONLY assume that there may be water available at a level. No one can ASSURE you to give exact depth and exact amount of water resources.
China has done several inventions to solve the problem. But they also can't give 100% result.
Apart from bore-well you can try open well.I had done several researches in this regard.

Sir, I have 25 years experience in the field of investigating GROUNDWATER by geological method (hydrogeology & geophysical survey). After the study of the area I can suggest to drill the borewell or not. Suppose water potential is there I will suggest to drill borewell.

There is a saying in Marathi; "if there is no water in the well you will not get in your bucket" same way if there is no water in your soil you will not get it in your bore!

You and you neighbors must carry out "rain water conservation scheme" on your farm land. Contour trench/bund technique will work the best. Try it.

Resistivity technique is an indirect way of delineating the subsurface rock formations. Frankly telling, no advanced technique of accurately locating water pockets is not available anywhere in the world & are yet to come. The resistivity techniques explore the subsurface rock formations & the presence of fractures & gaps in rocks. The success depends on so many factors, mainly the experience. Since we are over exploiting the ground water resources, we must conserve water & water resources have to be improved by ground water recharging techniques. But it should be done properly, for which also we are advising.

Crucial water parameters to be taken care of with respect to farming.

Water quantum, conservation & water qualities are the important parameters. As for as water quality is concerned, salinity stands first- for paddy cultivation saline water may not be suitable. We can say about the quality of water- The electrical conductivity, total dissolved solids, PH, etc., also are governing factors for the good crop yield. In this way our techniques do help them a lot.

For the best success rate & to get water, scientific approach is the best. The farmers need not drill bore wells unnecessarily by going in for conventional unscientific methods, there by the time & money are saved. In scientific techniques, if the investigation results are not favorable, we will not advise to drill bore holes unnecessarily. By these ways the farmers may get benefited.
