Good Morning Everybody

I hope so many answer to my questions and registered in this

1. Do we need any license from any body? If yes then what and how?
2. What are good cows and buffalos to start dairy farm?
3. How much space is sufficient for 10 cattle?
4. What is the cost of cow and buffalo at present?
6. What is good fodder for cows and buffaloes?
7. I want this meaning “DANA”(this is telugu word)
8. How to cultivate green crops and which green grass is good for buffalo and for cows please tell me the process of cultivation green grass?
9. Are there any trees which give fodder for cows and buffaloes because there is no proper space can I use fodder tree to cows and buffaloes? How many plants to fix for 10 animals?
10. What is the feeding cost of cow or buffalo per day
11. How many litters of milk does each cow and buffalo yield per day?
12. What machines use for taking milk and what is its cost?

You don’t need permission from anybody to start a dairy farm. Only the dairy shed (if made of a permanent structure) needs building permit from the local panchayat..

Good cows are Holstein Fresian, Jersey,Gir,Tharparkar,Sahiwal,Swiss brown.

Buffaloes: Murrah,Mehsana,Jaffarbadi,Surti,Gowli,Nili Ravi

Fodder types: Napier,Maize,Cow pea,Berseem.

Feeding: Concentrates (Cattle feeds in Mash form or Pellet form) + Green fodder + Dry fodder

Cows averaging 12-15 litres, buffaloes 8-10 litres

Normally a reasonably good milking machine will be around 45-50000/-

Take quotes for cows/buffaloes, quotation from machinery suppliers, dairy shed builders, submit it to bank, present two guarantors or pledge property.

Visit nearby dairy farms. See the arrangements there. Note the plus and minus points there. Take care you don’t commit the same mistakes.

Lactation period is the time when cows/buffaloes can give milk.

Keep water in front of the cows always using water bowls

u need training on dairy farming which will answer ur questions beyond reasonable doubt

let me tell u " u cant learn swimming by reading books -even encyclopedia
u need first hand knowledge"

KVK baramati in maharashtra provides training

in bangalore u get training from SLBTC hesaraghatta

dont start dairy without full knowledge and good training

Try visiting some good dairy farm and work with them for 2 weeks, learn the feeding and milking routines, chota mota veterinary care,calcium and mineral supplementation etc. On the job experience is really very good.
