Hippophae rhamnoides : Much branched spiny shrub, leaves oblong lanceolate or linear, silvery white beneath. Flowers one sexed occuring on different plants. Fruit orange red 6mm.
It has remarkable nourishing and healing properties. Fruit plup is rich in antioxidants, Vitamin C and E, Beta carotene and numerous flavonoids as well as rare palmitoleic acid known for wound healing. Seed oil heals radiation burns. Also useful in skin ailments. Leaves are used in herbal tea. Himalyian berry is its popular drink.
