Dear Member,
What Ashwini has said is indeed right. However if you have not started any thing concretely, I suggest the following:
1. Get the soil analyzed first.
2. Look for water in your land in sufficient quantity.
3. Find out from an Agronomist as to what types of crops can be grown comfortably.
4. Once you have a choice, please do select such types that will not need emergent disposal. You understand what I mean? Please go for crop economics and see which crop gives you the best returns. See the cycle of crop; whether it is short or long cycle crop.
5. The above will let you know if you need drip irrigation or flood irrigation. My advice is not to go for flood irrigation, if you can afford installation of a drip system.
6. Once these are followed you will then have to till the lands several times first time to ensure that the soil is loose and then pour Farm Yard Manure,vermi-compost before sowing the seeds.
Hope the above are useful. Our best wishes for happy farming. You will learn the ropes once you get in bold and confidently.
Regards.
