Guar seed arrival in market is very low. Initially it was low due to low rates of guar seed but right now it is low due to farmer are holding guar seed, in expectation of high rates. Farmers are expecting a level of 7000-8000. Small farmer are selling the seed continuously. Some time they sell it to big farmers some time direct in the market.


Small traders who operate at village level are not getting enough arrival of seed after drop down of rate below 5000. For these traders 5000-5500 level is comfortable level. Below 5000 level farmer are not showing good response to local trader.


Stockists are not expecting too much volatility up and down in industry. As per their view they see it 5500 at higher level. One of stockist who stock guar seed for one of Major producer is saying that manufacturer is under heavy loss due to stock of guar seed at higher rate. There will be a downfall March and April, as new commodity of Rabi Crop (winter crop) will arrive and Guar will be at its lower level.

As per discussion with farmers, guar is still a profitable crop in guar growing belt in comparison to other major competitive crop “COTTON”. If current price level remains same then Guar cultivation area will increase in next year.


Cotton is more expensive crop in comparison to Guar, at the same time guar is easy to cultivate crop and increase the productivity of land. If the production area will increase then there will be more production in next year in normal rainfall condition.

Right now the movement of business activities is slow but after 14[SUP]th[/SUP] January Guar business activities will increase again. The supply chain of guar gum is balanced and healthy right now. Existing contracts are keep-going smoothly at lower price. In this price down fall big players are working very well. The arrival of guar seed in market has come down but it is regular is guar crop cycle. Normally supply start to decrease from January. In three month January , February March it comes down in comparison to peak arrival of September , October, November and December. From April onward Rabi crop will come in market.


Supply of Guar: -


Supply is sufficient from farmer side as per industry requirement. If the export keep going on this rate then there will carry forward of additional surplus for next year. Local/small traders are regularly supplying the guar seed to manufacturers. Big manufacturer have sufficient stock of Guar, which is sufficient for any sudden mismatch in demand and supply. There will be regular supply of average 50,000-55,000 bags /Day in coming 2-3 months for processing units.


Since Cotton rate are also not competitive as comparison to Guar. Farmers are demoralised on Cotton rates. As per current scenario Guar is Low investment crop, Easy to cultivate, Long storage capacity, Low risk crop and adoptability to climatic condition.


In January there will be bit pressure of supply of Guar due to election in Rajasthan. From March onward Rabi crop arrival will start then farmer, Trader and stockist will active in Rabi ( winter) commodity.

In last report these data were as follows.

Winter has returned back after a temperature rise during last week. Panchayat elections are in full swing. The last phase of pachayat election is 28[SUP]th[/SUP] Jan. Farmers are engaged in election festival. Guar is at its year low today. There are no any major trading activities.


Now the temperature will rise in guar growing belt. Farmers are saying that will engage in plant protection activities. With the rise in temperature insect t pest will start to attack. Mostly Gram, mustard and wheat crop is grown in guar growing belt.


Traders are also silent. There is now any major guar trader activities as arrival of guar is almost stop right now. They expect that little bit arrival will increase after election. There will be two reason first movement of business activities will increase after temperature increase. Farmer will also free from election and will engage in regular activities.

Some farmers in Ganganagar belt are still having huge stock and waiting for a price rise. As per information in physical market there is availability of Guar seed. Traders are working on volumes to increase the overall margin at low rate.

Guar seed and guar rate remained stabled in spot market after two days rally in Jodhpur market. Some fresh buying has reported in spot market due to rise in price of crude oil. Future market gained in morning but in afternoon it started to goes down. In morning hour guar seed and guar gum opened strong but as per last trading Guar gum has lose 50 Rs/100 Kg and guar gum seed Rs 30/100 Kg in Jodhpur market. In other market it remained stable.


There is daily arrival of 20,000 Bags of guar seed 100 kg each from farmers. This much of supply will keep going. Manufacturers are waiting for fresh orders from US. Speculators and Stockist are also active in market.











Guar is being traded at Rs 4200 as a mean price in most of spot market. Traders are highly demoralized due to low rate. There is neck to neck competition. Currently margins are very less in guar business.


Oil and natural gas industry consume more than 70 % of guar. Demand from this sector is back bone for this industry. Demand from Food industry is not showing any major demand at low guar gum price.



Demand of Guar Churi is as usual in market. It may come down with price rise of guar split. In the case of guar gum price rise, production of Guar Churi will increase and supply will increase in market.

It is noticed if Guar seed slips at level of 2500 in future then there is not money to buy it. It will hard to find buyer at the level of Rs 2500. western Rajasthan is major guar gum seed cultivation are in the world. Miss handle of this commodity leaded to this crises.



In current year there is no any chance of price rise. After two month a small new summer crop of guar seed will come in market. There can some minor upward correction in June-July but not the major one.

From July to December Guar behave as supply driven product and form January to June Guar behave as demand driven product. Guar will remain as a weak commodity up to June. After June it may behave as strong commodity with the negative data of rainfall.


During current period impact of crude prices will be seen clearly on guar prices. Any further demand of guar Korma and Churi may also affect price of gaur.

In worst case scenario there is sufficient stock of guar seed to cover the demand of guar gum domestically and internationally. As per early data released by Govt we find that there will be good monsoon during this year. Cotton is parallel crop of guar, which is also not preforming well.
During this year farmer will prefer Guar over cotton especially in irrigated area. International rating agencies are giving prediction of improvement in Indian economy. It will lead to Rupee strengthen against USD. If INR will strengthen then there will be low Rupees inflow.

There is hope from domestic consumption. At lower price, application of guar gum may increase in other industries. At low price Guar gum will be affordable for other industries. If total share of other industries increase up 50 %, than oil and natural gas industry, then guar guar may become a hot commodity for long term basis. Guar meal and Guar Korma will also give a strong support to guar seed prices. Currently guar Korma and Guar Churi is preforming very well in comparison to last years and guar gum. Churi Korma will always work as base line for Guar seed price.

After analysing exports data from reliable sources, it was found that there is decline in guar gum export. There is sharp decline of 38.47% during this quarter as compared to last quarter and there is also 14.24% decline in export in guar gum as comparison to last year.

Guar gum seed is becing packed in bags for warehousing

Global demand of guar gum has come down. During last quarter export was increased as compare to previous quarter. After in depth analysis it was found that Indian exporter opened their subsidiary and stocked material in importing countries, now that stock is not cleared and sharp decline has noticed in guar gum export.

In coming days rate of guar gum and guar seed may further come down. Rs 2500/100 Kg for guar seed and Rs 6500/ 100kg for guar gum may be a bottom line. There are no chances of further improvement in rate even in next year. As per climatic condition, monsoon will be good this year and guar crop will be is good condition. Carry forward stock of guar seed and new crop arrival will make it over supply condition.
