This is a golden opportunity for the farmers. This is very good season (summer – Jan 15/Feb15) for sowing Guar gum in Southern states and Maharashtra if the irrigation facility is available. In this season the crop management is easy and attack of pest and disease is also minimum. The yield/production will be higher side (around 7 quintal/acre, provided the good seeds are sown and technically cultivated) in comparison with kharip crop. Very importantly when the crop will be harvested in the month of May, the rates are likely to be higher side may be around Rs.20,000/quintal because in western Rajasthan (the major production area) the produce of Kharip season is already been sold to the agents or the traders, once the produce is transferred from Farmer to Trader there is hardly any chance of falling of the rates, as on today it is around Rs.12,000/quintal, even Rs.10,000/quintal is also a good rate as compare to any other summer crop.
