Hi All,

i am having 1 acre land in madurai (dry land). i am planning to start goat farming. Can you please give me an idea on total budget, with split ups for shed,animal, ongoing cost, feeds etc.

I have recently started goat farming at Pattiveeranpatti, near batlagundu. The budget depends on your plan viz, type of shed, number of animals, etc., For one acre of fodder, you can only have 20 animals . You can visit my farm to have a basic idea. I am having 2.5 acres of fodder and a shed for 50 animals. I have Pure breed of Thalaserry, Kanni and Jamnapari animals, for breeding purpose. Hence, those who want to have pure breed animals for their farm, can purchase animals from my farm.

Can you give me an approximate budget for 20 animals, including shed and plan
 

The cost of the project for 20 animals will be like this approximately.

Fixed cost

Cost of Shed Rs.1.50 lakhs

Cost of Chopper Rs.0.16

Cost of animals Rs.1.25

Variable/ recurring expenses

Cost of concentrated feed Rs.180/- per animal per month

Fodder crop raising expenses Rs.30000 per acre

Other expenes viz labor, veterinary, electricity etc will differ from place to place
